Self Employment Information: Self Employment Applications can be obtained from our office located at 311 W. Shaw Pasadena, Texas 77506.    As a Pasadena Taxi cab driver you are an independent contractor responsible for your own taxes, social security and responsible for keeping your own records including income and expense records. You will not be an employee of Pasadena Taxi.   Pasadena Taxi rents cabs to the independent contractor drivers.    Most fulltime drivers keep their cab all the time, they keep the cab at their residence when off duty.  They work whatever hours they want, however the city ordinance states that they cannot work more than 12 hours in any consecutive 24 hour period.  The cab rental for these drivers is $84.00 per day and if they pay Monday through Saturday, they will not have to pay for Sunday.    We also rent cabs for 12 hr. shifts.  There are two 12 hr. shifts per day, 4:00 AM to 4:00 PM Day Shift, and 4:00 PM to 4:00 AM Night Shift.  The 12 hr. rentals are $65.00.     In addition to the cab rental payment, you will be required to pay a security deposit in the amount of $1,000.00 payable at the rate of $2.00 per shift that you work. You do not have to pay this all at once. To drive a Pasadena Taxicab you must have the following: 1.    A drug test that will be paid for by Pasadena Taxi.  You must pass the drug test. 2.    A valid Texas driver license, Class A, B, or C. 3.    A physical exam for the city of Pasadena. 4.    A taxicab driver license issued by Pasadena Police, Code Enforcement, 1114 Davis. The cost of the license is $20.00.  You can get an application from Pasadena Taxi. 5.    A taxicab driver license issued by Galena Park City Hall, located at Clinton and Main. The cost of the license is $15.50.  You can get an application form from Pasadena Taxi. 6.    A taxicab driver license issued by the City Secretary, Deer Park, located in City Hall at 710 East San Augustine. You can get this application form from Pasadena Taxi. The cost of this license is $10.00.     You will be required to train by riding with another driver for at least two (2) shifts.  You will not make money while in training.     We do not have any insurance to protect you as a driver.     You must buy your own gasoline. The cab will be full of gas when you get it and you must fill it up when you turn it in. Oil, maintenance, and repairs will be furnished by Pasadena Taxi
